(for story)Got hit on head with beer bottle. scratch, bleeding how long to heal?
In my story, my character gets hit in the head with a beer bottle. she has to escape from a house about half an hour later with no tourniquet. She later gets a tourniquet, but it's Made From a shirt. If needed, she can go to the hospital. how long would that take to heal?
Hello,
I'm first going to state that i'm no medical expert but logic would suggest that using a tourniquet on a head wound would be rather a rash idea, a tourniquet is used on an extremity to prevent or restrict the flow of blood. Restricting the flow of blood to the head is not a good move, in any circumstance. Usually limbs which have a tourniquet applied to them are often sacrificed and are usually lost.
The way to treat a head wound would be to apply pressure to the wound and then attempt to clean and clear any broke glass (in order to stave off infection) and then stitch up the wound to stop it from bleeding. Again I'm no medical expert, this question should be answered in the medical section.
Also the healing process would depend on certain factors, things you should consider when writing your story:
How hard was the character hit? Did the character lose consciousness? If so for how long? Is there glass in the wound? Will this injury have any long term consequences, memory lose, etc?
My advice is to think about the scene in a little more detail and then try to ask a more detailed question in the medical section.
Hope that Helped.
