Pretty decent beer ingredient?
I plan on making Egyptian beer. Of course it is only made with bread (wheat) and malted Barley. I am quiet fine on my own learning how to malt barley, but I just need a bit of help from people who KNOW how to Brew Beer. I read from a website that Egyptians made their beer with putting the bread in boiling water and putting in the malted barley. Let it cook for ya-da-ya-da, then pour it out through a strainer, let it cool, put the yeast on, then let it ferment for a couple weeks. Is this correct? I wouldn't mind an epic step-by-step instruction from anybody, but if you do, please make it alloted to the ingredients I am using and etc.
There is also supposed to be NO hops or anything of the like. Just wheat bread, malted barley, and water.
Google the Hymn to Ninkasi. She is the Babylonian goddess who gave beer to mankind. The hymn is actually a recipe and should be pretty close to what you have described. Be sure to drink the first beakerful to her honor, in order to thank her.
